Here is a recipe for a low-sugar, high-antioxidant, and adaptogenic hot cocoa (or cold-blended if preferred):

This recipe avoids refined sugar and focuses on the high antioxidant content of raw cacao, using adaptogenic powders to boost the functional benefits.

Ingredients
Liquid Base: 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk, cashew milk, or water123
Antioxidant Base: 2 Tablespoons Raw Cacao Powder (or high-quality, unsweetened cocoa)45
Raw cacao is extremely high in antioxidants and is known to balance mood and promote heart health.12
Adaptogens: 1 teaspoon total of your favorite adaptogen powder(s)15
Suggestions: Maca, Reishi, Lion's Mane, or Ashwagandha powder.413
Low-Sugar Sweetener: To Taste
3-5 drops of liquid Stevia or monk fruit, OR 1-2 teaspoons of pure maple syrup or raw honey.12
Healthy Fat (for creaminess & to help absorb nutrients): 1 teaspoon MCT oil or 1 Tablespoon unsweetened almond/cashew butter41
Flavor Boosters (optional):
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (may also help regulate blood sugar)4
A pinch of sea salt (enhances the chocolate flavor)1
A dash of pure vanilla extract
Instructions
Warm the Base: In a small saucepan, gently warm the milk or water over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.13
Combine Ingredients: Add the warm liquid to a high-speed blender or a mug.
Blend/Whisk: Add the cacao powder, adaptogen powder(s), healthy fat, sweetener, and any optional spices. Whisk vigorously or blend on low speed until completely smooth, ensuring no powder clumps remain.13
Serve: Pour into a mug and enjoy warm, or pour over ice for a cold beverage.
For a smoother texture and better mixability, particularly with powders and fats, using a blender is recommended
